DEALING WITH FEAR
Did you know we are wired with fear? You may have heard the term , "Fight or Flight." This is part of internal mechanism to fear.
Fear can be healthy or it can literally destroy us. We must know the difference.
Fear is wired into your nervous system, it gives you the survival instincts you need to keep yourself from danger.
Fear is unhealthy when it makes you more cautious than you really need to be to stay safe, and when it prevents you from doing things you would normally enjoy.
Just take a look at the world around you today. It is utterly madness and people's actions are based out of unhealthy FEAR.
The fear we see today isn't the kind of fear that will help us. It's the kind of fear that destroys life, relationships, families. (Each person to their own) so to speak.
This type of fear is the type of fear that cause destruction, hate, violence and the exact thing we are wired to protect ourselves from. (Survival instincts) That doesn't mean we need to protect ourselves by retaliation.
On the otherhand, the type of fear on Social media platforms is NOT something we need to protect ourselves from. The criticism, lashing out because someone said something you didn't like. The unkind words being spoken, all because YOU DIDN'T GET YOUR WAY.
Fear whether it be healthy or unhealthy is something WE deal with on a daily basis. So, what do we do? How do we overcome fear?
FIRST, we must recognize it. Asking ourselves a few simple questions can give us a better perspective of where our fear is coming from.
WHAT am I afraid of? Identify your fear.
WHY does this scare me? This could be some sort of trauma you've experienced and may take some serious digging or even counseling.
Once you've answered the above, you can now move onto finding a solution. Regardless of what you may be thinking right now. There is a solution. However, it may not be the solution you want to face and could be the answer to your fear in the first place.
IS there anything I can do about what I feel right now? (Write them down,, Making 2 colums label them pros and cons)
Under each category, also write a consequence that would go with each answer.
Once you have completed this step. You should have a much clearer picture of what is going on and what is the best way to handle the situation. This also includes wisdom and is a matter of the heart. (Choose wisely)
You may also want to ask yourself... What is outcome you want to see?You may want to put yourself in a roll play. This way you'll be able to clearly see how this will affect you or anyone else that may be involved.
